We are delighted to offer Manose’s beautiful prayer flags. Each flag is printed with goddess Gayatri and her mantra of gratitude and awakening in Sanskrit lettering. The five colors (blue, white, red, green, yellow) of the individual flags represent the elements of ether, air, fire, water and earth. Each string of 25 flags is wrapped in handmade paper.
The gayatri mantra is one of the oldest mantras from India and close to the heart of mantra singers, Deva Premal, who recited it every evening as a child, and Miten. Manose, renowned Kathmandu-born musician who has performed and collaborated with Deva and Miten for many years, created this unique prayer flag to honor Gayatri. The Om symbol in the four corners of each flag is in the artistic style of Deva’s father. The placing of prayer flags as an offering to the divine force in sacred locations, from the crest of temples to high mountain passes, is an ancient tradition from the East. As they flutter in the air, fade and tatter in the elements, the spirit of the mantra is released.
